Independence Palace

It can be call the Reunification Palace, this is one of the top attractions in Ho Chi Minh city. This is a home and workplace for the French during their colonial rule.

Inside the Independence Palace with many tropicals trees and gardens, it bring the visitors back to the 1960s when you are come there. There is an old helicopter used by the President of South Vietnam for emergency on the rooftop of this Palace. The Palace is still used for conference or many big national events.

This place is very popular with the travelers in Saigon, it brings a long story of historical, message of the costs of wars, and the effect of Agent Orange Dioxin for a long-term.

Ben Thanh Market is the market was built by French and one of the market has a long time history in Saigon but still operating now. This is one of the famous place for travelers need to visit. There are over 3,000 vendors selling almost everything you might need from clothes, ceramics, souvenirs, handbags, Vietnamese noodle, sugarcane drinks, spring roll and fruits, etc. A general rule you should remember, you will need to bargain the price before buying something.

Until 6 PM, the market will close but around the market will appear many small vendors will start setting up a night market. This is one of the top night markets in Ho Chi Minh City.

Bui Vien Walking Street

This place as known as the backpacker’s area, it located in Pham Ngu Lao Street and Bui Vien Street. More and more day, there are lots of tourism and visitors know this place to explore the noise of Saigon with music, cultural of Vietnam, local people, etc. to promote the increase of tourism and travel, the leader of District 1 propose it has became a night walking street since July 2017.

The street are very noisy and busy at night. You can find a cheap meals, beers or meeting with other visitors come from different countries over the world. Keeping your personal belongings carefully when you walk around crowded places.

Nguyen Hue Walking Street

It has opened since 2015, on the street you can see the statue of Ho Chi Minh and the People’s Committee Building. This area is the place gather the young people, it very noisy and busy at night and this place is serving many food stalls that’s suitable to meet up with friend.

Vehicles are allowed to go along Nguyen Hue Street on weekdays, all kinds of transportation are restricted from 6 PM to 1 AM on the weekends.

Thien Hau Temple

This is one of the top religious attractions in Ho Chi Minh City. It located in District 5 of Chinatown, you can visit this place by bus or taxi. You should visit it in the morning because you can see locals praying, worshipping their Gods and spirits. On the roof of the temple, many ceramic as well as the statue of Gods was decorated with a religious beliefs of local people.

You can join in the cultural activity by buying a spiral incense and writing you wish on the red paper at the back of the temple. The locals will help you take this paper on the top of ceiling. It will exist on a week before it burns out.

Binh Tay Market (Cho Lon)

The local people call it is Cholon in Chinatown, this place is one of the largest wholesale local markets in Ho Chi Minh City. It selling many things such as dried goods like fruits, seafood, nuts, cashew, etc. This place is messy local market, if you want to see the real trades by locals. it’s very crowdedness and narrow, you shouldn’t go with children because it can make the kids wounded or falls.

Cu Chi Tunnels (Ben Dinh & Ben Duoc)

It located on a Northwest of the city, it 45 KM – 65 KM from Ho Chi Minh city. There are 2 tunnel sites open for travelers: Ben Dinh Tunnels and Ben Duoc Tunnels. If you want to know more about the difference between the 2 sites, you can looking for this place for a tourism on Google. After visited this place, you can recognize how the local people can survive on the small tunnels and fighting against Americans. You can understand the Vietnam War better, it is unlike you imagine about the terrible war.
