A vibrant celebration of Vietnam’s diverse cultural heritage unfolded throughout August, drawing over 100 participants from 16 ethnic groups and 11 provinces across the country. Visitors were treated to captivating performances of folk songs and traditional musical instruments by Xơ Đăng people from Quảng Ngãi. The program also featured lively interactions with members of the Xơ Đăng, Cơ Tu, Tà Ôi, Ba Na, and Raglai ethnic groups, who are regular participants at the cultural village. The event showcased the distinctive sounds of traditional instruments such as gongs, chimes, and instruments crafted from bamboo, reeds, and dried gourds. These included the distinctive sounds of the Đinh năm flute, the haunting melodies of Ay Ray singing, the soulful strains of the Chapi instrument, songs celebrating the Central Highlands, the enchanting Then singing accompanied by the Tính zither, and the vibrant energy of the Xòe dance. This vibrant array of performances showcased the incredible diversity of Vietnam’s musical heritage.
Culinary Delights: A Taste of Ethnic Cuisine
The event also offered a unique culinary journey, allowing guests to sample a variety of authentic ethnic dishes. Visitors could savor the flavors of Mường and Thái cuisine, including sticky rice, chicken and bamboo shoot stew, steamed fish, steamed vegetables, grilled fish, and various pork dishes. The menu also featured grilled chicken from the Dao and Khơ Mú ethnic groups, along with refreshing coffee and cocoa.
Interactive Games and Traditional Activities
Further enhancing the immersive experience, visitors could participate in traditional games. Indoor activities included the games of đánh chắt (a type of jackstones), chơi chuyền (a shuttlecock game), ô ăn quan (a mancala-like game), and cờ ca rô (checkers). Outdoor activities offered a chance to try đi cà kheo (stiltwalk) and nhảy sạp (a bamboo pole dance).
Creative Workshops and Cultural Immersion
